When we first conceptualize a new dream or goal and take the first few steps toward achieving it, we are full of excitement, expectation, and hope.
The change seems welcoming and fresh. But change is never easy. As we go further down the path, it can be hard to maintain change: Giving up seems easy, and we often choose the path of least resistance.
And so it is with our dreams. As obstacles and challenges surface, we can find ourselves doubting our ability to rise to the challenge.
That is why it is so important to create a concrete vision of where you want to go at the beginning, when hopes are high. At that point, we need to capture why we want to make a change in our life, or reach a dream.
Then we need to turn back to that vision and embrace it during difficult times. From that vision, we have to derive the energy to take the next step, and the next.
We cannot sacrifice that dream for immediate relief, in the long term, that will not take us to where we want to be.
